This article presents the results of the annual management of accounting practice survey, sponsored by the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. The results have been broken down by firm size to allow benchmarking among peers. The report shows that increasing the number of professional personnel generally produces a more profitable firm. Setting goals and benchmarking provide a road to success, but to compete with other firms it is important for practitioners to keep abreast of how other firms are doing.
