Objetivo: Avaliar o uso de chupetas em bebés prematuros sobre o desenvolvimento dentário, a capacidade de alimentação oral independente (amamentação) e a duração da hospitalização. Metodologia: Pesquisa sistematizada nas bases de dados PubMed e Science Direct. As palavras-chave utilizadas de acordo com o MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) foram bebé prematuro, chupeta, amamentação e comportamento de sucção, combinadas com o operador booleano AND. Foram aplicados critérios de inclusão e exclusão e foram selecionados 52 artigos. Conclusão: Os bebés prematuros enfrentam muitos desafios pelo subdesenvolvimento dos sistemas cardiovascular, respiratório, nervoso e muscular. Entre estes desafios, a alimentação oral apresenta um grave problema. Um conjunto crescente de literatura sugere que o uso de técnicas de sucção não nutritivas, tais como as chupetas podem oferecer benefícios significativos, facilitando a alimentação e promovendo o desenvolvimento oral. |

Objective: To evaluate the use of pacifiers in premature babies with regards to dental development, capacity for independent oral feeding (breastfeeding), and duration of hospitalization. Methodology: Systematic search in the PubMed and Science Direct databases. The MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) keywords used were premature baby, pacifier, breastfeeding, and sucking behavior, combined with connector term AND. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, and 52 articles were selected. Conclusão: Premature babies face many challenges due to the underdevelopment of the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, and muscular systems. Among these challenges, oral feeding presents a serious problem. A growing body of literature suggesting that the use of non-nutritive sucking techniques, such as pacifiers, can offer significant benefits, facilitating feeding and promoting oral development. |
