Inventors: Ayre, Steven James (Midland, MI, US)
Assignees: Ayre, Steven James (Midland, MI, US)
Claim: 1. A walking aid accessory, comprising: a first component having a base, a post extending away from a top surface of the base, and twist-lock openings disposed in the base, wherein a width of the base is greater than a width of the post, wherein the twist-lock openings comprise first portions and corresponding second portions, and wherein radial widths of the first portions are larger than radial widths of the second portions; and a second component having an outer shell, a central opening extending through the outer shell that is sized to receive the post of the first component in a first configuration, and twist-lock projections extending away from an end of the outer shell such that the twist-lock projections extend into the base of the first component in the first configuration, wherein the second component is separated from the first component in a second configuration, and wherein the twist-lock projections of the second component engage the twist-lock openings of the first component to lock the first component and the second component together in the first configuration.
Claim: 2. The walking aid accessory of claim 1 , wherein the base of the first component has a hemispherical configuration.
Claim: 3. The walking aid accessory of claim 1 , wherein the post of the fit component is concentric with the base of the first component.
Claim: 4. The walking aid accessory of claim 1 , further comprising: channels disposed around and parallel to at least one of the post of the first component or the central opening of the second component.
Claim: 5. The walking aid accessory of claim 1 , wherein the twist-lock openings are disposed on the top surface of the base of the first component.
Claim: 6. The walking aid accessory of claim 1 , wherein the twist-lock projections comprise rust portions extending in a longitudinal direction and second portions extending from respective rust portions in a radial, lateral, or transversal direction.
Claim: 7. The walking aid accessory of claim 6 , wherein radial lengths of the second portions of the twist-lock projections are smaller than the radial widths of the first portions of the twist-lock openings and larger than the radial widths of the second portions of the twist-lock openings.
Claim: 8. The walking aid accessory of claim 1 , wherein the twist-lock projections are immediately adjacent to the central opening of the second component.
Claim: 9. The walking aid accessory of claim 1 , wherein the end of the outer shell of the second component touches the top surface of the base of the first component in the first configuration.
Claim: 10. The walking aid accessory of claim 1 , wherein the twist-lock projections are spaced in an equidistant manner around the central opening of the second component.
Claim: 11. The walking aid accessory of claim 10 , wherein the twist-lock openings are spaced in an equidistant manner around the post of the first component.
Claim: 12. The accessory for the lower end of the walking aid of claim 11 , wherein the second portions of the twist-lock openings am substantially arcuate.
Claim: 13. An accessory for a lower end of a walking aid, comprising: a first component having a base with a substantially hemispherical configuration, twist-lock openings defined in the base, and a post extending concentrically away from the base; and a second component having an outer shell, twist-lock projections, and a central opening extending longitudinally through the second component receives the post of the first component in a first configuration, wherein the twist-lock projections comprise first portions extending in a longitudinal direction and second portions extending from respective first portions in a radial, lateral, or transversal direction, wherein the second component is supported by and locked to the first component in the first configuration, and wherein the second component is separated and disconnected from the first component in a second configuration.
Claim: 14. The accessory for the lower end of the walking aid of claim 13 , wherein the first portions of the twist-lock projections extend away from an end of the outer shell of the second component.
Claim: 15. The accessory for the lower end of the walking aid of claim 13 , further comprising: channels disposed around and parallel to at least one of the post of the first component or the central opening of the second component, wherein the channels are open-ended on both ends.
Claim: 16. The accessory for the lower end of the walking aid of claim 13 , wherein the substantially hemispherical configuration of the base has a substantially planar portion and a substantially arcuate portion opposite the substantially planar portion, and wherein the substantially planar portion is disposed closer to the post than the substantially arcuate portion.
Claim: 17. The accessory for the lower end of the walking aid of claim 13 , wherein the post of the first component is concentric with the base of the first component.
Claim: 18. The accessory for the lower end of the walking aid of claim 13 , wherein the twist-lock openings comprise first portions and corresponding second portions, and wherein radial widths of the first portions are larger than radial widths of the corresponding second portions.
Claim: 19. A walking aid accessory, comprising: a first component having a base and a post extending from the base; and a second component having an outer shell and a central opening extending through the outer shell that receives the post of the first component when the first component and the second component are locked to one another; and channels disposed around and parallel to at least one of the post of the first component or the central opening of the second component, wherein the channels are open-ended on both ends.
Claim: 20. The walking aid accessory of claim 19 , further comprising: twist-lock projections on one of the first component or the second component; and twist-lock openings on the other of the first component or the second component, wherein the twist-lock projections and the twist-lock openings lock the first component and the second component together in the first configuration.
Claim: 21. The walking aid accessory of claim 20 , wherein the twist-lock openings are on the base of the first component, and the twist-lock projections extend from a lower portion of the second component.
