This work is report on the self-assemblies of six transition metal coordination polymers using the azido and 5,5’-bipyrimidine ligands. It contains two parts. In the first part, three Co(II)-based 3D frameworks compounds {[Co2(bpm)(N3)4]·MeCN}n (1), [Co(bpm)(N3)2]n (2), and [Co(bpm)(N3)2]n (3) are prepared by self-assembly of N3 and bpm. In the compound 1, μ1,3-azido and μ4-bpm bridges construct Co(II) ions into 3D structure. The 3D framework compound 2 was connected by μ1,3-azido, μ1,1-azido, and μ2-bpm. Compound 3 is bridged by μ4-bpm and terminal N3 ligand. The magnetic data of compounds 1-3 were collected and analysis, which reveal that compounds 1 and 2 exhibit spin-canting antiferromagnetism and magnetic coercivity. While compounds 2and 3 exist metamagnetism in the low temperature. In the second part, three coordination polymers of {[Ni3(bpm)3(N3)6]·2H2O}n (4), [Mn(bpm)(N3)2]n (5), and [Cu2(bpm)(N3)4]n (6) were reported compounds 4 is a Ni(II)-based 2D compound bridged by μ1,1-azido, μ1,3-azido and μ2-bpm ligands. Compounds 5 and 6 adapt the 3D frameworks, where compound 5 contains μ1,3-azido and μ2-bpm ligands and compound 6 contains μ1,1-azido and μ4-bpm ligand. Magnetic analysis reveal there μ1,1-azido dominates the ferromagnetic interaction in compounds 4 and 6, while μ1,3-azido ligands transmits the antiferromagnetic interaction in compounds 4 and 5.
