| الوصف: | Interdisciplinary approaches to both Translation and Interpreting are now considered the most appropriate way to reveal and fully understand the complex mechanisms that govern them. Over the last decades, Sociology has provided a particularly interesting perspective on interpreting, laying focus on individuals and their relationship with the group they belong to. The present research uses the methodological tools and the theoretical perspective of both Sociology and Social Psychology to approach the role of court interpreter in Greece. Given this approach, court proceedings involving interpreting is considered as a social structure, as a complex network of relationships, where individuals hold specific statuses from which several roles emerge. The main focus is placed on the court interpreter’s status, as this was formed in the course of the years and has evolved as a result of many initiatives, as well as on the interpreter’s role as it is shaped and guided by the supplementary status holders and the corresponding roles of the other participants in the social system of the court proceedings. Especially the concept of role as an expression of the expected behavior or expectations addressed by the different the reference groups to the holder of a status is a basic research question of this thesis. The court interpreter is considered as a status holder and a role (s) performer and we examine in which way and to what extent the expectations of the relevant reference groups, i.e. those involved in the court proceedings, influence or determine the performance of the interpreter’s role. The survey, which was conducted in the courts and Detention Premises of Ioannina, Greece, aims at investigating and ultimately demonstrating that the court interpreter experiences an intra role conflict due the many conflicting or vague expectations expressed by the other participants in the court proceedings, while identifying some possible causes of this intra role conflict. ; Η διεπιστημονική προσέγγιση τόσο της Μετάφρασης όσο και ... |
