The scarce foreign population that’s settled down in the state of Oaxaca throughout the 20th century, as well as the little documentation available for it’s study after 1940, have been the causes that, according to the author, have probably detracted the academic reasearch of foreign immigration in a period closer to the present time. This text proposes to approach the study of the subject through the methodology of Oral History. The stories of many of it’s protagonists, which speaks us of their personal experiences as foreign immigrants in a state in the south of the country characterized by it’s wide ethnic and linguistic diversity, and it’s social hierarchies, bring us closer to the knowledge of the events and reasons that have influenced the stablishment of very diverse foreigners in the city of Oaxaca, and contribute to the analysis of their forms of social interactions. ; La escasa población extranjera radicada en el estado de Oaxaca a lo largo del siglo XX y la poca documentación disponible para su estudio posterior a 1940, han sido los factores que, de acuerdo con la autora de este texto, han desmerecido la investigación académica sobre la inmigración extranjera en un periodo más próximo al tiempo actual. Por ello, propone aproximarse a su estudio a través de la metodología de la historia oral. Los relatos de varios protagonistas, al contener sus experiencias personales como inmigrantes extranjeros en un estado del sur del país que se distingue por su amplia diversidad étnica y lingüística y sus jerarquías sociales, acercan al conocimiento de los sucesos y motivos que han intervenido en el establecimiento de muy diversos extranjeros en la ciudad de Oaxaca y contribuyen al análisis de sus formas de inserción sociocultural. |
