| الوصف: | At the time of the change of sovereignty in the Cuba and Puerto Rico as a result of the Spanish-American War, neo-colonial discourses were elaborated in the United States, often accompanied by photographs that racialised the population and showed the backwardness of the new possessions. This was a way of justifying American intervention in the governance of the islands to ensure their prosperity and the implementation of modernisation measures, especially in education, health and public works. ; En el momento del cambio de soberanía en las islas de Cuba y Puerto Rico, como consecuencia de la Guerra, se elaboraron discursos neocoloniales en Estados Unidos a los que acompañaron con frecuencia fotografías que racializaban a la población y mostraban el atraso de las nuevas posesiones.
