الوصف: The article presents a study of the peculiarities of the development of social intelligence in children of primary school age in modern conditions of the digital environment. It has been established that, despite the large amount of scientific research on this issue, the problem of understanding the phenomenon remains relevant. It was determined that social intelligence is a specific ability that ensures the successful interaction of a person with the environment and the ability to predict the behavior of others. The purpose of the article is to study the peculiarities of the development of social intelligence of younger schoolchildren in the conditions of a digital educational environment. The approaches of various scientists regarding the development of social intelligence in ontogenesis are analyzed. In the works of foreign authors, the development of social intelligence is connected with the periodization of the development of social intelligence. In particular, J. Piaget distinguished a number of stages: 1) sensorimotor intelligence; 2) preconceptual (symbolic) intelligence; 3) visual (intuitive) intelligence; 4) specific operations; 5) formal operations. The theory of social role acceptance by R. Selman, who identified five main stages of development of social intelligence, is considered. The key point in the article is the theory of P. Ervin, who correlated the peculiarities of the child’s personality development with qualitative shifts in the development of social intelligence and, based on this, developed a model of the development of children’s ideas about interpersonal relationships, primarily about friendship in relationships with peers. It has been confirmed that early school age is important for the development of social intelligence. During this period, the child’s circle of communication expands, his sensitivity, socialperceptive abilities, the ability to worry about others, decentralization, which forms the basis of social intelligence, develop.
