The present work arose from the interest in secretarial work in the startup environment, as it is a growing market and little explored scientifically by the Executive Secretariat. The study aimed to analyze the perception of the leadership positions of startups from Ceará on the relevance of the exercise of secretarial skills in this business model. The research, characterized as qualitative, with an exploratory approach, was implemented through a form via google forms, with the participation of 30 respondents, who were managers of 24 startups. According to the results, technical, analytical and behavioral skills were considered, however, analytical and behavioral skills were more relevant and are more required in the startup environment, highlighting the main ones such as problem solving, decision making and adaptability. The main challenge pointed out by the startups' representatives was the difficulty in finding qualified people in the market. It was also revealed the lack of Executive Secretaries in the participating startups, although they have positive evaluations on the secretarial skills. These findings showed that there is a demand from Ceará startup managers for qualified professionals with multidisciplinary training, but they are unaware that this demand can be met by professionals from the Executive Secretariat. ; O presente trabalho surgiu do interesse pela atuação secretarial no ambiente das startups, em virtude de ser um mercado em crescente expansão e pouco explorado cientificamente pelo Secretariado Executivo. O estudo teve por objetivo analisar a percepção dos cargos de chefia de startups cearenses sobre a relevância do exercício das competências secretariais nesse modelo de negócios.
