Wurm's technique for correction of an incompetent os during pregnancy is a simple, but not well recognized procedure. In this study, an attempt has been made to evaluate this procedure for elective and emergency cases. Pregnancy outcome of 142 patients who underwent Wurm's operation at the Nehru Hospital, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh is presented. Twenty pregnancies resulted in abortion, 47 pregnancies terminated preterm and 75 pregnancies continued beyond 37 weeks. A total of 119 live births yielded a success rate of 83.3%. There were three stillbirths and six infants died during the neonatal period resulting in a fetal salvage of 81%. These results are comparable to those reported for other procedures.
