We aimed to compare myeloperoxidase levels in cord blood samples of mothers undergoing water immersion or conventional labor. We enrolled 52 pregnant women to this case control study meeting the following criteria: uneventful gestational follow-ups, no history of known chronic or pregnancy-associated diseases, cesarean section or uterine operation, BMI29.9 kg/mThe mean age of the study population was 24.55 ± 4.9 years. The mean BMI and weight gain during pregnancy were 26.8 ± 2.7 kg/mImmersion in water during the first stage of labor seems to be associated with low myeloperoxidase levels, suggesting reduced oxidative stress in this delivery method.
