Callous-unemotional (CU) traits comprise deficient or dysfunctional affect, a callous lack of empathy, and reduced concern with regards to performance at school or work (Frick et al., 2014). Research has linked the presence of nonnormative levels of CU traits to conduct problems (e.g., aggression, destructiveness, stealing; McMahon & Frick, 2019). Little research has examined whether CU traits demonstrate day-to-day fluctuations. In addition, the relations between CU traits and affect/emotion is complex and unclear. Thus, this study will examine CU traits captured in a daily diary design, and whether daily CU traits are associated with daily positive affect, negative affect, emotional problems, and conduct problems.
