Meaningful professional development takes place in level spaces, not in the tightly controlled hierarchies of higher education. In this chapter, three collaborators share stories about how institutional and extra-institutional spaces like the National Writing Project provide the tools and opportunities to explore, reflect on, and reconsider the socially constructed professional identities.
