مستخلص: This article presents an edition of the manuscript of Giuseppe Siri’s diary, written in a free and direct style during the first synod of bishops in 1967. Archbishop of Genoa, Italy, and former President of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, Giuseppe Siri came to prominence at the Second Vatican Council because of his conservative positions, making him an emblematic figure of the minority. Despite his opposition to this new representative institution, Siri, who had been elected to the synod by his Italian confreres, continued his fight to defend the power of the papacy, which was facing the dangers of modern opinions and liturgical changes. In addition to the text of his notes, a number of documents from his personal archives contextualise his strategic objectives, which were increasingly destined to be marginalised as part of the evolution of the post-conciliar Church.
