مستخلص: The article describes the Population Viability Analysis (PVA) method in simulating different scenarios for a better understanding of jaguar population dynamics as used in the Jaguar National Action Plan workshop. A base model for jaguars was built, it says, that represent biological potentials for jaguars including demographic rates for evaluating model strength as to variations in the values of parameters. It mentions theoretical case studies illustrating population size and its importance, the negative impact of female jaguar mortality and isolation, habitat loss and fragmentation. Also conducted were investigations of real case studies as to the impact of hunting on the Tapajós-Arapiums Extractive Reserve and the use of the Vortex computer models for data integration.
