مستخلص: Experienced vocational evaluators with advanced knowledge of the impact of disabling conditions on employability may desire to expand their practice into the forensic field. While potentially lucrative, this specialized area poses dangerous waters for even the most qualified evaluators if they do not fully understand the unique issues and often adversarial nature of courtroom testimony. Many rehabilitation professionals cite serving as a vocational expert in the Social Security Administration as their first foray into the forensic field. This venue provides an introduction to courtroom testimony, including the voir dire process and direct and cross-examination, as well as the alternative application of traditional vocational concepts, namely transferable skills analyses, labor market information, and functional limitations. For the evaluator interested in a career as an expert witness, contract work with the Social Security Administration provides a first step to more advanced forensic work. Unique issues in this field are explored. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
