مستخلص: This article presents views of Stephen Daniels, co-author of the book "Civil Juries and the Politics of Reform" on jury verdicts. At least with regard to medical malpractice, these kinds of claims date back to the middle 1800s. Medical journals of the day were complaining about the greedy lawyers and the crazy patients that were driving doctors out of New York State. So lawyers who specialize in medical malpractice will gravitate towards those types of cases that have the best potential, which means the most serious injuries, not death.
