مستخلص: The article discusses a study on the association between the FTO (oxoglutarate-dependent nucleic acid demethylase) gene variant rs17817449 and obesity in a Slavic Eastern European population. Three indices of obesity were examined, namely body mass index (BMI), waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR). The FTO variant was found to have a strong association with BMI but not with other risk factors in the Slavic population.
