A recent report from the Doctoral School of Medicine in Constanta, Romania explores the connection between adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) and peripheral vestibular dysfunction. The study, conducted over 12 months on 159 patients, found that patients with peripheral vestibular dysfunction had higher Cobb angle values, indicating a more severe curvature of the spine. The researchers suggest that incorporating sensory integration techniques and vestibular rehabilitation exercises into the treatment plan for scoliosis may be beneficial.
