A recent study conducted at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada, examined the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) in promoting weight loss in patients who had previously undergone metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS). The study found that the use of GLP-1RAs, specifically liraglutide and semaglutide, resulted in significant weight reduction in these patients. The research included 17 studies with a total of 1164 participants and concluded that GLP-1RAs can be an effective strategy for weight loss following MBS, with an acceptable safety profile.
