Researchers from the University of Tehran have published a new study on neurofibroma, a benign tumor derived from the peripheral nerve. The study focuses on a rare case of central neurofibroma in the mandibular bone of a 57-year-old female patient. The tumor was successfully removed through hemi mandibulectomy and reconstructed with a reconstruction plate. Microscopic evaluation revealed neoplastic tissue with spindle-shaped tumoral cells, and immunohistochemical examination showed positive staining for S-100 protein antibodies. This case adds to the limited number of reported cases of intraosseous neurofibroma. [Extracted from the article] |
