A patent has been issued to Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. for an acoustic wave device that aims to reduce or prevent acoustic coupling between adjacent acoustic wave elements. The device includes a piezoelectric substrate, a first acoustic wave element, and a second acoustic wave element. A diffracting component with a slit is provided in the overlap region of the intersecting regions of the IDT electrodes of the two elements.
