A recent study conducted by the University of Southern California (USC) examined the effects of erythropoietin (Epo) on brain injury outcomes in neonates with moderate or severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). The study found that Epo did not improve overall outcomes in this population. The research analyzed neuroimaging data from the High-dose Erythropoietin for Asphyxia and Encephalopathy (HEAL) Trial, involving 500 infants.
