Air Niugini, the national carrier of Papua New Guinea, has placed an order for six Airbus A220-100s as part of its fleet modernization program. Additionally, the airline will acquire three A220-300s and two A220-100s from third-party lessors, including Air Lease and Nordic Aviation Capital. The new A220 fleet will replace the existing Fokker 100s and Fokker 70s, providing increased capacity and reliability for domestic and regional flights. The aircraft will also enable Air Niugini to expand its network to new destinations in the Asia-Pacific region. The airline has also selected a flight planning support system from Airbus subsidiary Navblue to optimize fuel, time, and cost efficiency.
