This article discusses the relationship between recalled maternal and paternal child-rearing attitudes and locus of control orientation. Locus of control is a personality dimension that involves an individual's perceived control over events in his life. Sample group consisted of 80 university undergraduates who responded to the locus of control scale and the family relations inventory. The results indicated that maternal child-rearing attitudes of overall protectiveness and restrictiveness were related to an external orientation. |
