China's airlines experienced a surge in air travel during the first quarter of 2024, with a record number of passengers. This increase can be attributed to government efforts to boost the tourism sector and strong demand for domestic holidays. Total air passenger traffic reached nearly 180 million trips, marking a 37.7% year-on-year growth. The Lunar New Year holiday, which occurred in February, saw an unprecedented 83.5 million trips made by air, a 51% increase from the previous year.
