This article reports that CT2 has admitted its short-lived foray into the airline sector left it with losses of £2.8 million last year. The Manchester, England-based company set up charter arm AV8 in 2003. But poor sales and licensing difficulties meant flights from Manchester to Cape Town lasted only one season and AV8 did not operate its short-haul aircraft. A search for an outside investor resulted in telecoms entrepreneur Nigel Warr and a consortium taking a majority stake in the company in April and investing £6 million. |
