The article discusses a study by C. C. Mok and colleagues to analyze the life expectancy, standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) and causes of deaths in patient groups with six different rheumatic diseases in Hong Kong, China. It revealed that patients with a diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), systemic vasculitis (SV), or systemic sclerosis had increased mortality rates and reduced life expectancy. |
