The article presents an overview of preterm delivery including its causes and prevention. The causes of preterm delivery include stress, placental abruption, infection and uterine distension. Positive fetal fibronectin (fFN) and short cervical length are also positive indicators as concluded by the preterm prediction study. Patient education, follow up and referral are the key factors in the prevention of such occurrence. |
