The article focuses on premature rupture of membranes (PROM) which is a complication in about one third of preterm births. PROM is associated with a brief latency between membrane rupture and delivery, increased potential for perinatal infection and in utero umbilical cord compression. The article also deals with the optimal approaches to assessment and treatment of women with term and preterm PROM. |
