A 34-year-old man with colon cancer experienced lack of efficacy and gastrointestinal side effects during his treatment with various antineoplastic drugs. Initially, he underwent surgery and received platinum-based adjuvant chemotherapy, but his cancer metastasized and recurred. He then underwent surgery again and was switched to a different treatment regimen, which caused nausea, poor appetite, hyperthyroidism, and impaired liver function.
