مستخلص: This article discusses the surgical management of foramen magnum meningiomas (FMM), which are benign tumors that account for a small percentage of all meningiomas. These tumors can cause neurological deficits and myelopathy due to their location near critical neurovascular structures. The study reviewed 15 patients who underwent surgical resection of FMM and found that the most common presenting symptoms were gait imbalance and headaches. The surgical approach was selected based on tumor location and origin, with the majority of patients undergoing the far lateral supracondylar approach. The study reported positive surgical outcomes with no postoperative mortalities and improvements in modified Rankin scale scores. The authors conclude that safe and effective resection of FMM can be achieved with careful techniques and consideration of the position of the vertebral artery. [Extracted from the article]
