The article focuses on a study which reviews the efficacy and safety of lower systolic blood pressure (BP) targets compared with a target of less than 160 mm Hg. It notes the finding of the network meta-analysis that a target of less than 120 mm Hg showed a borderline reduction in stroke and myocardial infarction (MI) and targets less than 150 and less than 140 mm Hg reduced risk for serious adverse events (SAEs). |
