| مستخلص: | Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs) provide a highly efficient method of care in order to allow for minimal ASCs stay after surgery without compromising patient safety (Hall, Schwartzman, Zhang, and Liu, 2017). Laparoscopic surgery increases the patient’s baseline risk of experiencing postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) after surgery (Masiongale et al., 2016). The Apfel Simplified Risk Screening tool is used to evaluate the probability that patients will experience nausea and vomiting postoperatively (Kovach, 2014). The impact of PONV risk stratification for patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery was evaluated using the SCG, data was collected, recorded, and analyzed from an ASC to determine if PONV risk stratification enhanced health care delivery. The outcomes were a lower incidence of PONV and improved discharge times after laparoscopic surgery. |
