الوصف: The present study aims to evaluate the prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency in patients with Covid-19 and its comorbidities. This is a cross-sectional study, involving 195 patients hospitalized with Covid-19 in a Hospital, which was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, and is part of a research entitled “Thyroid function, nutritional status of iodine and hormonal biomarkers and immunological factors as prognostic factors in patients with SARS-Cov-2 infection hospitalized in the referenced network of hospitals in the city of João Pessoa”. Data collection for this research was carried out during the hospitalization of patients, through data from medical records, with the collection of personal data and patient identification, disease history, need for hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit and discharge or death record. In addition, blood collection was performed for biochemical analysis of Vitamin D, Calcium and PTH. p<0.05 (significance level 5%) was used as a reference for significant differences. Of the 253 participants, the mean age was 61.45±15.25 years, and, regarding gender, 59.3% (n= 150) were male, and 40.7% (n= 103) female, 23.32% (n=59) required treatment in the ICU and 16.6% (n=42) died, 56.13% (n=142) had RV deficiency/insufficiency, and 43.87 % (n=111) sufficiency. Of the disabled/insufficient 49.33% (n=74) were men and 66.02% (n=68) were women, revealing significantly (p=0.009) more VD deficiency/insufficiency compared to men. The prevalence of comorbidity can be observed, according to the classification of the DV status, observing that 43.5% (n= 110) had Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM2), 33.2% (n=84) had Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH). Therefore, it is concluded that the patients hospitalized with Covid-19 at the Hospital Dom José Maria Pires in the municipality of Santa Rita - PB, presented a high deficiency / insufficiency of vitamin D being more significant in females, however there was no significant correlation between vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency and the ...
