| الوصف: | This article analyzes the treatment that was given to the elderly by the digital media in the context of COVID 19 in Peru during the first weeks of the mandatory social isolation measure. Documentary research and exploratory methodology were used, as well as, analytic frameworks of framing theory and ageism to analyse a group of 99 journalistic notes. The findings showed that the media treatment of older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic has reproduced ageist stereotypes. They were represented as a homogeneous group which is associated to economic dependence, vulnerability, as well as, lacking of agency and decision-making power. Este artículo analiza el tratamiento mediático que se le otorgó a las personas adultas mayores en los medios digitales en el contexto del COVID-19 en el Perú durante las primeras semanas de aislamiento social. La metodología fue de tipo documental de tipo exploratoria que utilizó los marcos analíticos de la teoría del framing y viejismo para analizar 99 notas periodísticas. Se concluyó que el tratamiento mediático de las personas mayores ha reproducido estereotipos “viejistas”. Se tendió a representarlos como un grupo homogéneo asociado con la dependencia económica, vulnerabilidad, así como falto de agencia y poder de decisión. |
