This chapter will present foundational information that a urology healthcare provider should know in order to provide care for LGBTQ patients with cultural humility. First, information about health disparities will be outlined to provide important context for caring for LGBTQ populations and individuals. Next, key concepts about cultural humility and providing safe, affirming, and inclusive environments for all patients will be presented. Then, we will provide an overview of a variety of urologic health issues experienced by LGBTQ patients. Finally, resources for diving deeper into the unique needs of LGBTQ populations and individuals will be provided.
