| الوصف: | This article aims to perform a survey of current medical literature on the sequencing of the Human Genome, that was mainly performed by the international initiative Human Genome Project (HGP), started in 1990, and brought great relevance to the scientific community. The complete sequencing was only finished 20 years later, by the private initiative T2T (Telomere-to-Telomere). The knowledge of the human genome raised ethical and social questions, demanding the creation of the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications Research Program Program (ELSI), to address such questions. The years of studies required the creation of new technologies, in addition to non-existent fields of science, such as personalized medical care and pharmacogenomics, which have directly impacted the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the genetic profile of each individual. The SciELO, PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), Nature, Open Science Journal Nature, and Phd Scientific Review databases were used as search engines, through the descriptors “Human genome, Treatment, Ethics, Sequencing, Science”. Conclusively, the HGP allowed the knowledge of the human genome, at the same time that it has been enabling applications, mainly in the diagnosis of disease, however there is still a high financial cost involved, which make it difficult to use these methods in a wide spectrum. ; O presente artigo tem por desígnio realizar uma varredura da literatura médica vigorante sobre o sequenciamento do Genoma Humano, realizado majoritariamente pela iniciativa internacional Projeto Genoma Humano (PGH), iniciada no ano de 1990, sendo de grande relevância no meio científico. O completo sequenciamento foi finalizado somente 20 anos depois, pela iniciativa privada Telomere-to-Telomere (T2T).
