The current research aims to identify the level of each of (psychological needs and self-control) of the research sample, and to identify the differences in the two variables with the demographic variables of the research (gender, specialization, stage) The correlation between psychological needs and self-contrtol, and for the purpose of achieving the research goals The development of the (Deci & Ryan, 2000) scale prepared for psychological needs in addition to reviewing the theoretical frameworks and previous studies of psychological needs. The researcher adopted the (Khafaji, 2002) scale for self-control, and the two scales were applied to (128) students from the third and fourth stage at Salah al-Din University / Erbil, after they were randomly selected, and by using the SPSS statistical bag, the researcher reached the following results: the low level of psychological needs and self-control of the research sample, the absence of statistically significant differences in the psychological needs variable with the demographic variables of the research, and the presence of statistically significant differences between self-control and each of Specialization and the stage in favor of scientific specialization and the fourth stage and the absence of differences in the gender variable with regard to self-control, and in the end the researcher reached a number of recommendations and abominations Rest. يهدف البحث الحالي إلى التعرف على مستوى كل من ( الحاجات النفسية والتحكم الذاتي لعينة البحث، والتعرف على الفروق في المتغيرين مع المتغيرات الديموغرافية للبحث ( الجنس، التخص ص، المرحلة والعلاقة بين الحاجات النفسية والتحكم الذاتي. ولغرض تحقيق اهداف البحث تم الاستفادة من مقياس )2000,&RyanDeci( المعد ل لحاجات النفسية فضلا عن الاطلاع على الاطر النظرية والدراسات السابقة للحاجات النفسية، وتبنت الباحثة مقياس ( الخفاجي، 2002 ) للتحكم الذاتي، وتم تطبيق المقياسيين على ( 128 ) طالبا وطالبة من المرحلة الثالثة والرابعة في جامعة صلاح الدين اربيل بعدما تم اختيارهم عشوائيا، وباستخدام الحقيبة الأحصائية SPSS توصلت الباحثة الى النتائج الاتية: إنخفاض مستوى الحاجات النفسية والتحكم الذاتي لعينة البحث وعدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في متغير الحاجات النفسية مع المتغيرات الديموغرافية للبحث، ووجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين التحكم الذاتي وكل من التخصص والمرحلة لصالح التخصص العلمي والمرحلة الرابعة وعدم وجود فروق في متغير الجنس بالنسبة للتحكم الذاتي، وفي النهاية توصلت الباحثة الى عدد من التوصيات والمقترحات.
