الوصف: The topic of emotional intelligence in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries is becoming increasingly important in modern research by scientists in the United States and Ukraine, especially as it is interesting to see how important emotional intelligence is in the everyday life of every person. It should also be noted that the role of emotional intelligence in the educational process is no less interesting for us as researchers. Ukraine, reforming and modernizing all spheres of life, needs the latest specialists who will not only be intellectually developed but also have high levels of emotional intelligence, which is currently a criterion for a successful, sociable, team-oriented specialist in the West. We observe this trend in the United States, where university students demonstrate medium and high levels of emotional intelligence, which means that they are more adapted to various stressful situations, demonstrate a broader worldview, and show the ability to manage their own feelings and emotions, which undoubtedly has a positive impact on their further professional growth as future professionals. The article highlights the main milestones of development, namely the understanding of the phenomenon of “Emotional Intelligence” from the point of view of Ukrainian and American researchers at the present stage of development of pedagogical and psychological science and systematizes them. Pedagogical science, being modernized, will be able to use the achievements of psychology in the field of emotional intelligence, in particular because students of higher educational institutions of Ukraine who have developed emotional intelligence are more resilient and adapt to changes more easily, work more productively in a team and have a more creative approach. This issue has become even more relevant with the emergence of COVID-19 and the large-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
