    وصف الملف: Objective: To verify the prevalence and characterize headache in cases of stroke admitted to the Hospital Governador Celso Ramos (HGCR) from April / 2018 to April / 2019. Methods: Cross-sectional, prospective and analytical observational study. From April 2018 to April 2019, all patients with stroke admitted to the HGCR neurology service in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, southern Brazil, were interviewed. The study was conducted in census form, and all patients diagnosed with stroke in the HGCR were evaluated for inclusion and exclusion criteria. The patients underwent a standardized questionnaire, which included anamnesis data and physical examination. Medical records and imaging exams were analyzed for clinical and radiological variables. Stroke was defined according to the guidelines of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association (AHA / ASA); and Stroke-related headache, according to the third edition of the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-III), by the International Headache Society (IHS). Results: The prevalence of headache associated with ischemic cerebrovascular event was 46,5% (105 cases). The mean age of patients with headache was 61.39 years (σ 12.75). The younger population had a higher probability of headache associated with IS (p = 0.001). Evans Index (EI) was lower in patients with headache than in patients without headache (p = 0.012). Area of ischemia and pain intensity were related to the presence of headache (p = 0.008 and p = 0.005, respectively). Conclusion: The present study found a high prevalence of headache in patients with IS, and an association between the presence and intensity of headache and the area of ischemia.; application/pdf
