الوصف: We describe here the isolation and characterization of cDNAs from mouse brain coding for the precursor of substance P and neurokinin A, preprotachykinin A (PPT-A), and for the precursor of neurokinin B, preprotachykinin B (PPT-B). Two types of mouse PPT-A cDNA encoding β-PPT-A and γ-PPT-A were obtained. The latter lacked the coding region corresponding to the exon 4 of the PPT-A gene, as is observed in other species. Mouse β-PPT-A deduced from the cDNA sequence consisted of 130 amino acids, and showed extensive homology to rat, human, and bovine β-PPT-As, with 99%, 95%, 92% amino acid identities, respectively. The substance P and neurokinin A sequences were the same among these species
