الوصف: An injection-locked frequency divider topology for wide locking-range and high-order division is presented. Based on the theoretical analysis of the locking-range and injection locking characteristic, we propose locking-range enhancement techniques and high-order dividing topology. Fabricated in a 0.18-μm BiCMOS process, three test circuits are designed with only a standard CMOS, aiming at input frequency ranges of 7.8, 11.1, and 11.7 GHz. The 7.8-GHz divide-by-2 ILFD consumes 2.9 mW with a locking range of 692 MHz operated from a 1.5 V supply. The optimized dual injection method improves the locking range by a factor of 10. The 11.1-GHz divide-by-3 ILFD employs an even-harmonic phase tuning technique and the proposed technique improves the locking range by 25%. The core of the 11.1-GHz ILFD consumes 6.15 mW from a 1.8 V supply. For the 11.7-GHz divide-by-3 ILFD, a self-injection technique is proposed that utilizes harmonic conversion and self-injection to improve phase-noise, locking-range, and input sensitivity simultaneously. By employing harmonic tuning and self-injection, odd-order division is enabled with 47.8% enhancement in the locking-range and 15.7-dBc/Hz reduction in phase noise.

الوصف: The multi-mode noise is an important issue for the optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) in generating a spectrally pure microwave. Especially in oscillators with low phase noise, increasing the cavity length to improve the phase noise performance will make the mode interval smaller, which is more likely to cause multi-mode noise. Here, we proposed a low phase noise and high side-mode suppression ratio self-injection-locked OEO based on frequency conversion filtering. We theoretically and experimentally studied the influence of the phase noise of the external microwave source on the proposed OEO and, as a comparison, the conventional injection-locked OEO. The results show that, compared with the traditional injection-locked OEO, the proposed OEO is less sensitive to the phase noise of the external microwave source. Under the same experimental conditions, the proposed OEO achieved the same side-mode suppression ratio and the phase noise is reduced by 30 dB at 10 kHz offset from the 10-GHz carrier compared with the conventional injection-locked OEO.

The published version can be accessed at the following link on the publisher’s website: https://doi.org/10.51847/dhavVPyhAVTest ; The clinical homecare sector is often associated with high-cost drug parenteral (injectable) therapy treatments and has been rapidly growing in the United Kingdom (UK) at a 20% annual rate. It was estimated that this could further rise to 60% if extended to all medicines that are considered to be suitable for care at home. The latest data shows that the homecare medicines services sector continues to grow in number and complexity, with over 500,000 patients and a spend of UK£3.2 billion in 2021. Given the extent of the National Health Service (NHS) expenditure and the number of patients involved, it is essential to understand and explore the patients’ and HCPs’ experiences, views, and perceptions of this therapy. As identified during this literature review, homecare provides opportunities for improved cost savings and improved patient experience, but several issues have already been reported worldwide. Patient education, training, support, and regular supervision, as well as the competency of HCPs to manage these patients, have all been identified as factors that contribute to the success or failure of self-administration of parenteral therapy at home, which might impact treatment outcomes and adherence. This is an area that needs urgent research. ; Published version

Included subjects, or their caregivers, completed a questionnaire on the following five main areas: attractiveness of SurePal™, training received, using the device, the low drug wastage system, and experience versus other devices used previously (pretreated patients). Responses were based on a 5-point scale, with 2 being the best possible outcome and −2 the worst possible outcome. Results: In total, 550 patients were included in this study (338 from France, 169 from Germany, and 43 from the UK). The mean age ± standard deviation of participants was 10.8±3.5 years; the majority (57%) were male and growth hormone treatment naïve (88%). Almost half (49.8%) of children prepared their SurePal™ for injection themselves and 45.5% performed injections themselves. As patients progressed into their teens, the majority (≥75%) favored preparing SurePal™ and performing injections themselves, rather than seeking assistance. The attractiveness of SurePal™ was rated as excellent/good by 84.7% of patients overall; this rating was similarly high (≥79%) across countries and age-groups. Preparing (88.8%) and using (83.3%) SurePal™ were rated as very easy/easy by most patients; these ratings were similarly high, irrespective of country or age-group. The dose-memory function was rated as very helpful/helpful by 66.2% of patients. Among 246 patients who reported using the low drug-waste feature, 87.4% found it helpful. Among pretreated patients (n=64), 78.2% reported that SurePal™ was much better/better than their previous device. Conclusion: These data confirm the ease of use and patient preference for SurePal™ among pediatric patients with growth disturbances. Keywords: PATRO children, Omnitrope®, SurePal™, self-injection, growth hormone, intervention adherence

الوصف: Dynamic frequency tuning of the 40.67 GHz intermode beat frequency of a 1255 nm emitting 1 mm long monolithic self mode-locked single section optical frequency comb InAs/InGaAs quantum dot laser across 70 MHz is experimentally demonstrated by fine-delay dual-cavity controlled all optical self-injection. Fiber-based macroscopic optical delay lengths are 9.4 m (round-trip time of 62.7 ns) and 16.5 m (round-trip time of 110.1 ns), the maximum studied microscopic delay tuning times are 40 ps and the optical self-injection strengths are below 0.02%. For selected delay times, the lowest intermode beat frequency line width amounts to 2 kHz indicating an improvement of carrier phase coherence by a factor of 700 as compared to the free-running laser. We validate these experimental results by a simple and universal stochastic time-domain model which is applied for the first time to model a self mode-locked quantum dot laser subject to optical self-injection. Modeling results are in good quantitative agreement.

الوصف: The objective was to investigate adherence measured by an electronic auto-injector device, and self-reported adherence and treatment convenience in subjects with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), using an electronic auto-injector Rebismart (R) to self-inject interferon beta-1a. Thirty one patients with RRMS using the electronic auto-injector Rebismart (R) for selfinjecting interferon beta-1a subcutaneously three times weekly were included in a reallife clinical multicenter study for 24 weeks in Finland. Mean adherence reported by the device and mean self-assessment of adherence were studied. Reasons for missing injections and treatment convenience were assessed. Association between adherence and gender and age were studied. The mean adherence calculated from the device data was 93.5%. The mean self-assessment of adherence was 96.6%. The most common reason for missing an injection was forgetfulness. Adherence (measured by the device) was not changed over time. In the high adherence group there were more females and young patients (<30 years of age). The auto-injector was found to substantially ease the treatment by 90% of the patients. The electronic auto-injector was associated with high adherence to treatment. The device was found to ease the patient's treatment and it was perceived as easy to use. It is a convenient tool to assess patient's adherence to treatment. ; Peer reviewed

الوصف: Optical microcavities have been widely used in nonlinear optics, quantum optics, and laser technologies. Here we demonstrate the self-injection locking of a distributed feedback diode laser using home-made high-finesse Fabry-Perot microcavity. The Fabry-Perot microcavity is fabricated from an x-cut lithium niobate crystal with highly reflective coatings. Frequency pulling effect can be observed for a successful locking, and results in a single-longitudinal mode lasing with narrow linewidth. The lasing wavelength and output power are found robust to the laser-diode current and temperature variations, in comparison to the free-running case. We further characterize the laser linewidth with beat note measurement with a high-performance external cavity diode laser, with beat-note linewidth of 601.85 kHz. This results shows a new method for laser frequency stabilization in a simple setup, and may find applications in telecommunication and spectroscopy.

الوصف: In this work, self-injection and external-injection in ∼450 nm InGaN/GaN blue and ∼650 nm InGaP/AlGaInP red diode lasers are investigated. A distinct locking characteristic is observed in the self-injection case with small 19 cm cavity length, demonstrating enhanced ∼2.34 and ∼2.07 GHz 3-dB bandwidths, corresponding to a factor of ∼1.4 and ∼1.1 improvement, and reduced ∼60 and ∼80 pm spectral linewidths, for the blue and the red lasers, respectively. Moreover, this short external cavity self-injection locked system exhibited superior performance by a factor of 1.1–1.3 compared to the long cavity (26 cm) configuration. Conversely, the external optical injection exhibited weak locking signature with improved linewidths by a factor of ∼1.6–2.8 and reaching as small as ∼70 and ∼87 pm for the blue laser, respectively, while almost doubling in the peak powers. Later, on–off keying modulation technique based data transmission rates of up to 3.5 and 4.5 Gb/s are demonstrated on free-running blue and red laser diodes, respectively, employing an in-house laser diode mount based system. Moreover, owing to the bandwidth limitation of the optically injected systems, successful transmission of up to 2 Gb/s is demonstrated with better performance compared to the respective free-running cases, in particular, the external-optically injected system demonstrated more than double improvement in the bit-error-rate. ; M.
