الوصف: The traditional production system design and reconfiguration planning are manual processes. The lately developed capability matchmaking system aims to improve the production system design with a more intelligent design approach that auto-mates the search for feasible resource combinations to specific product require-ments. Virtual reality concepts and virtual manufacturing can bring more immer-sivity, perceptual intuition and interaction to the design process, and thus speed it up. 3D graphical visualizations of a production system and its resources can help in identifying problems in the reconfiguration of industrial equipment. The result from existing capability matchmaking system in XML format is not intuitive for the designer. Additionally, it is very difficult to analyze the proposed resources based on the textual description. To enhance the efficiency and performance of the existing capability matchmaking system, especially how to present and visual-ize the possible resource combinations inside the result is seen as an essential step towards virtual and smart manufacturing. This research provides an approach to visualize the result of capability matchmaking system in a virtual simulation envi-ronment with a use case example. ; Peer reviewed

الوصف: Natural language is an effective tool for communication, as information can be expressed in different ways and at different levels of complexity. Verbal commands, utilized for instructing robot tasks, can therefor replace traditional robot programming techniques, and provide a more expressive means to assign actions and enable collaboration. However, the challenge of utilizing speech for robot programming is how actions and targets can be grounded to physical entities in the world. In addition, to be time-efficient, a balance needs to be found between fine- and course-grained commands and natural language phrases. In this work we provide a framework for instructing tasks to robots by verbal commands. The framework includes functionalities for single commands to actions and targets, as well as longer-term sequences of actions, thereby providing a hierarchical structure to the robot tasks. Experimental evaluation demonstrates the functionalities of the framework by human collaboration with a robot in different tasks, with different levels of complexity. الوصف: Data collected from industrial machines enable companies to pursue new servitization offerings such as machine health condition monitoring as well as to monitor the machine behavior for research and development purposes. In this study, qualitative data was collected from four different industrial SME companies to create a better understanding of the motivational drivers industrial companies may have to create remote data collection systems. The results will discuss the initial motivational drivers for data collection setup construction as well as the challenges companies were facing along the way in designing and implementing their systems. Based on the empirical research results, the recognition of internal motivational drivers and data utilization targets should be clear before proceeding to further development of data collection infrastructure. Generally, the research results recognize various areas that an automation industry company needs to consider before planning and implementing an online data collection system, what challenges they may face as well as generalized proposed solutions are presented. ; Peer reviewed

الوصف: Robotic safety is an imperative topic, especially in Human-robot collaboration (HRC). The main objective of safety training in Virtual Reality (VR) is to visualize the safety-related regulations, standards, and guidance for robotics operators. We believe that this is the best approach for explaining the complex language used in various directives and standards. The primary aim of the paper is to introduce the VR-based safety training environment and provide a user experience evaluation for the developed system. The user experience test consisted of a usability test survey based on System Usability Scale (SUS) and an open discussion questionnaire regarding VR application and its elements. The result of the survey presented acceptance of the system by an average SUS score of 80%. Open discussions indicated that VR-based safety training is favored over traditional methods and provides a memorable experience. VR characteristics such as a sense of presence and interactive visual environment uncovered the transformation of abstract regulation terminologies into tangible safety measures and concepts such as hazardous areas, working zones, and collaborative levels. Lastly, the paper discusses the potential improvements of the system and the possibilities of utilizing VR for industrial training purposes. ; Peer reviewed

الوصف: Integration of information and communication technology (ICT) offers new opportunities in improving the management and operation of critical infrastructures such as power systems as it allows connection of different sensors and control components via a communication network, leading to the so-called networked control systems (NCS). However, the use of open and pervasive ICT such as the Internet or wireless communication technologies comes at a price of making NCS vulnerable to cyber intrusions/attacks which may cause physical damage. This chapter presents control algorithms to ensure resilient and safe operation of NCS under unknown cyberattacks. Specifically, a variant of dynamic watermarking strategies is presented by embedding encoding/decoding components of chaotic signals into the NCS for secure control for critical locations where the measurement/control signals are transmitted to/from the control center via a communication network. In addition, resilient cooperative control algorithms are discussed to ensure safe operation at edge of the NCS which consists of a large number of distributed controllable devices. Several numerical examples are provided to illustrate the proposed control strategies. ; Peer reviewed

الوصف: Health-related issues remain a continuous point of discussion globally among policymakers, health experts and researchers because there is no one-time solution to health problems. This study intends to link home care and mobile health services to illuminate the poverty-stricken society on alleviating poverty through smart health services. First, we conducted a literature review on mobile health and rural nursing. Second, we embarked on a thoughtful analysis to include influential materials not found in the literature reviewed. Third, we analysed the external influences and grouped them accordingly. Fourth, we integrate the factors into a conceptual model showing external and internal factors. Fifth, we analysed the role of mobile technology in rural nursing and finally developed practice recommendations. This study explores the urgent need for home care health services for rural dwellers with three pertinent questions: (1) How can home care and mobile health services enhance social development? (2) How can government policies impact home care mobile health services for rural dwellers? (3) Why are home care and mobile health services necessary for rural dwellers? The study employs the concepts of home care and mobile health services with an insightful literature review and integrated theories to probe poverty permeation and health inequality. It is expected that introducing home care and mobile health services will lead to easiness and convenience for rural dwellers and give assurance as they have access to treatment in the confines of their homes and the language they understand with the aid of smart nurses and smart technologies. ; Peer reviewed

الوصف: Power transformers are the most important and expensive assets in high-voltage power systems. To ensure an adequate level of reliability throughout the transformer’s lifetime, its maintenance strategy must be well defined. When an incipient fault occurs in the transformer insulation, a gas concentration pattern, representative of the type of fault, is generated. Fault-identification methods use gas concentrations and their ratios to identify the type of fault. None of the traditional or new fault-identification methods attempt to detect transformer oil contamination from on-load tap changer (OLTC) gases. In this study, from dissolved gas analysis (DGA) samples of transformers identified as contaminated in a previous study, fault-identification methods based on graphical representations were used to observe the patterns of results. From such patterns, Duval’s triangle and pentagon methods were modified to include a new zone indicating oil contamination (OC) from OLTC gases. Finally, the proposed modifications were validated using 75 DGA samples extracted from previous studies that were identified as D1 or D2 faults or contaminated from OLTC. This validation showed that only 14.7% and 13.3% of the DGA samples fell within the new OC zone of the proposed triangle and pentagon, respectively. ; Peer reviewed
