    الوصف: BACKGROUND:When establishing Physical Employment Standards, validity is dependent on the correct identification and characterisation of critical job tasks.OBJECTIVE:To develop and validate a standardised protocol for the identification, characterisation, and documentation of critical physical job tasks in military occupational specialities in the Swedish Armed Forces (SwAF), and propose a definition of critical physical job tasks for use in the SwAF.METHODS:A protocol was drafted with three content domains, including a preliminary definition. Protocol content validity was iteratively assessed in two consecutive stages where ten subject experts rated relevance and simplicity. A consensus panel revised the protocol after each stage. Content validity index (CVI) was calculated as item-CVI (I-CVI) per each feature and as scale average (S-CVI/Ave) per content domain. Acceptable content validity thresholds were 0.78 and 0.90, respectively.RESULTS:The validated protocol consisted of 35 items with an I-CVI≥0.90 and≥0.80 for relevance and simplicity, respectively. The S-CVI/Ave was 0.97 for relevance and 0.98 for simplicity. The protocol was language reviewed, reorganised for easy use, and approved by the consensus panel. The final protocol includes: background and aim of the protocol, the accepted generic and critical physical job task definitions, protocol instructions, subject expert-qualifications, job task source and characteristics.CONCLUSION:A standardised protocol for identification and characterisation of critical job tasks in SwAF military occupational specialties was developed. The protocol content was rated relevant and simple by experts and will be of importance in future work establishing physical requirements in the SwAF.

    الوصف: Role clarity and workplace autonomy are always considered a dilemma for employees to perform better to achieve their desired targets, which can affect organizational performance. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of role clarity and work autonomy on the performance of employees with the mediating influence of organizational commitment. Classical organization theory and role theory constitute the methodological framework of the study. Structural equation modelling and confirmatory factor analysis were used as research methods. Data is gathered from 311 employees of five different multinational telecommunication organizations operating in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Islamabad and Rawalpindi City, Punjab, Pakistan through a convenience sampling. We used AMOS for data analysis. The research results revealed that role clarity and work autonomy have a significant positive effect on the work performance of individuals. Similarly, organizational commitment demonstrated the partial mediation between the association of role clarity and work autonomy with work performance among employees of multinational telecommunication organizations. Employees who are uncertain about their job responsibilities are unable to be engaged and motivated at work. Organizations, therefore, should eradicate role ambiguities and conflicts to boost staff commitment by propping a clear role for the enhancement of work performance. This research extends the role theory, and our findings can give companies insights into how to customize autonomy levels for maximum productivity.

    الوصف: Abstract While grandiose narcissism is well-studied, vulnerable narcissism remains largely unexplored in the workplace context. Our study aimed to compare grandiose and vulnerable narcissism among managers and people from the general population. Within the managerial sample, our objective was to examine how these traits diverge concerning core personality traits and socially desirable responses. Furthermore, we endeavored to explore their associations with individual managerial performance, encompassing task performance, contextual performance, and counterproductive work behavior (CWB). Involving a pool of managerial participants (N = 344), we found that compared to the general population, managers exhibited higher levels of grandiose narcissism and lower levels of vulnerable narcissism. While both narcissistic variants had a minimal correlation (r = .02) with each other, they differentially predicted work performance. Notably, grandiose narcissism did not significantly predict any work performance dimension, whereas vulnerable narcissism, along with neuroticism, predicted higher CWB and lower task performance. Conscientiousness emerged as the strongest predictor of task performance. This study suggests that organizations might not benefit from managers with vulnerable narcissism. Understanding these distinct narcissistic variants offers insights into their impacts on managerial performance in work settings.

    الوصف: This quantitative study investigates the relationship between training, job performance, career development, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction among police officers in the HR Bureau of Gorontalo Regional Police. Data were collected through a survey from a sample of 157 officers and analyzed using SPSS version 26. Descriptive, correlation, regression, and mediation analyses were conducted to explore these relationships. The results showed significant positive correlations between training, performance, career development, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. Regression analysis showed that both training and job performance significantly predicted career development, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. Mediation analysis further demonstrated the mediating role of career development in explaining the relationship between training, job performance, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. These findings underscore the importance of investing in training programs and developing career development pathways in police organizations to improve organizational outcomes and officer well-being.

    الوصف: Abstract Background Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are a significant workplace problem leading to loss of productivity and disability. Administrative workers perform computer-based tasks for long periods. Consequently, they are at risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders. The objective of this study was to explore the frequency and risk factors of work-related musculoskeletal complaints and their impact on work productivity among administrative employees of Suez Canal University, Egypt. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted on 300 administrative employees through simple random sampling. Data were collected by an interview questionnaire including sociodemographic, work-related data, ergonomic and psychological risk factors, the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ), and the World Health Organization Health and Work Performance Questionnaire (HPQ). Results The frequency of work-related musculoskeletal complaints in at least one anatomical region over the past year was 74.7%. Neck (47.1%), lower back (40.7%), and shoulder (36.3%) were the most reported sites of complaints. Risk factors significantly associated with work-related musculoskeletal complaints were gender, age, physical activity, work experience, workplace stress, sustained body position, awkward posture, and inadequate rest breaks. Logistic regression revealed that older age (OR = 1.039, p = 0.023), being female (OR = 2.175, p = 0.011), and not having adequate rest breaks (OR = 1.979, p = 0.019) were significant predictors for the occurrence of WMSDs. The risk factors of absenteeism include gender, age, marital status, educational level, physical activity, BMI, work experience, and musculoskeletal complaints. Conclusion Musculoskeletal problems were highly prevalent among administrative employees. Being female and not having adequate rest breaks were significant predictors for the occurrence of WMSDs. Ergonomic interventions and improvement of working conditions are recommended to reduce WMSDs.

    الوصف: ObjectiveThis review discusses the scientific evidence regarding effects of insufficient rest on clinical performance and house officer training programs, the associations of clinical duty scheduling with insufficient rest, and the implications for risk management.Study designNarrative review.MethodsSeveral literature searches using broad terms such as "sleep deprivation," "veterinary," "physician," and "surgeon" were performed using PubMed and Google scholar.ResultsSleep deprivation and insufficient rest have clear and deleterious effects on job performance, which in healthcare occupations impacts patient safety and practice function. The unique requirements of a career in veterinary surgery, which may include on-call shifts and overnight work, can lead to distinct sleep challenges and chronic insufficient rest with resultant serious but often poorly recognized impacts. These effects negatively impact practices, teams, surgeons, and patients. The self-assessment of fatigue and performance effect is demonstrably untrustworthy, reinforcing the need for institution-level protections. While the issues are complex and there is no one-size-fits-all approach, duty hour or workload restrictions may be an important first step in addressing these issues within veterinary surgery, as it has been in human medicine.ConclusionSystematic re-examination of cultural expectations and practice logistics are needed if improvement in working hours, clinician well-being, productivity, and patient safety are to occur.Clinical significance (or impact)A more comprehensive understanding of the magnitude and consequence of sleep-related impairment better enables surgeons and hospital management to address systemic challenges in veterinary practice and training programs.
