الوصف: The response of plant species to the variation in abiotic factors affects the regeneration capacity and, consequently, the structure of the forest community. This study aims to describe the structure of the regenerating stratum in a Brazilian montane rainforest and investigate its relationship with environmental and spatial variables along an altitudinal gradient. Data on the height and diameter at soil height of regenerating individuals and environmental variables were collected from 28 sample units, distributed in seven altitudinal sites. To understand the spatial influence on species distribution, spatial variables (MEMs - Moran’s Eigenvector Maps) were created based on geographic coordinates. Phytosociological parameters were calculated by species. Floristic similarity between the altitudinal quota was determined by the Bray-Curtis index (UPGMA), and the species that characterize each group were determined by the Indicator Species Analysis. Redundancy Analysis (RDA) was performed, and generalized linear models were adjusted to verify the influence of environmental and spatial factors on regenerating vegetation. The species Palicourea sessilis had the highest Importance Value in the regenerating community. Two floristic groups were formed: the highest sites (1420 to 1550 m a.s.l.) were floristically more similar to each other (Group 1) than to the sites in the 1112 to 1391 m elevation range (Group 2). Overall, 11 species were indicators of Group 1 and only one of Group 2. Finally, a pattern of species substitution was verified as a function of abiotic factors. The first two axes of the RDA explained 51.02% of the variation in the floristic composition of the regenerating community. Natural regeneration demonstrated environmental preferences, being influenced by luminosity, abundance in adult components, calcium and sodium contents, plant litter accumulation, altitude, and the spatial structure of the environment. Altitude did not seem to influence the pattern of abundance or richness of regenerating species.

Auto-inflammation can theoretically be combated by anti-inflammatories, such as TNF-α inhibitors. This study’s aim was to assess the effectiveness of intravenous infliximab, a TNF-α inhibitor, in patients with CRPS.Patients and Methods: CRPS patients treated with infliximab between January 2015 and January 2022 were approached to participate in this retrospective study. Medical records were screened for age, gender, medical history, CRPS duration, and CRPS severity score. Additionally, treatment effect, dose and duration, and side effects were extracted from medical records. Patients who still receive infliximab completed a short global perceived effect survey. Results: Eighteen patients received infliximab, and all but two gave consent. Trial treatment with three sessions of 5 mg/kg intravenous infliximab was completed in 15 patients (93.7%). Eleven patients (73.3%) were categorized as responders with a positive treatment effect. Treatment was continued in nine patients, and seven patients are currently treated. Infliximab dose is 5 mg/kg, and frequency is every four to six weeks. Seven patients completed a global perceived effect survey. All patients reported improvement (median 2, IQR 1– 2) and treatment satisfaction (median 1, IQR 1– 2). One patient described side effects such as itching and rash. Conclusion: Infliximab proved effective in 11 out of 15 CRPS patients. Seven patients are still being treated. Further research is needed on the role of infliximab in the treatment of CRPS and possible predictors of response to treatment. Keywords: complex regional pain syndrome, CRPS, TNF-α inhibitors, treatment, inflammation, anti-inflammatories

الوصف: Although richness and distribution of woody species in the Cerrado physiognomies have been extensively studied, the shifts of woody species from savanna physiognomies to dry forests have not yet been addressed. Here, we investigate the effect of soil physical-chemical traits on the woody species turnover between adjacent cerrado stricto sensu and dry forest physiognomies. Woody species were surveyed, and soil and topographic variables measured, in 30 10×40 m plots systematically distributed, with 15 plots in each physiognomy. We found a spatially structured distribution of woody species, and differences of soil traits between cerrado stricto sensu and dry forest areas, mainly related to the aluminum saturation, base saturation, and available phosphorus. Aluminum saturation increased toward the savanna area, while base saturation increased toward the dry forest. Most woody species predominated in one physiognomy, such as Callisthene major in the cerrado stricto sensu and Anadenanthera colubrina in the dry forest. Only 20% of the species were widely distributed across both physiognomies or, not often, restricted to the intermediary values of the soil gradient. General results indicate that contrasting soil traits between cerrado stricto sensu and dry forest produce a strongly spatially organized and sharp transition in terms of species distribution between these physiognomies.

A major problem with respect to treatment is medication non-adherence. eHealth interventions are already widely used in the treatment of patients living with affective disorders. The aim of this systematic literature review is to obtain the current scientific evidence to eHealth as a tool to improve medication adherence in patients with affective disorders. A systematic search was performed across PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and PsycInfo. Studies in English and German published between 2007 and 2020 were included. The review followed the PRISMA guidelines and were performed with the CADIMA online tool. A total of 17 articles were included in this review. Eleven studies were randomized controlled trials, two were controlled clinical trials, and four had a pre-/post-design. Three different types of interventions could be identified: internet-based self-management programs (n=4), multi-faceted interventions addressing different dimensions of medication adherence (n=4), and single-faceted interventions (n=9) comprising four mobile interventions and five telehealth interventions. Eleven interventions addressed patients with (comorbid) depressions and six addressed patients with bipolar disorders. Six interventions showed a statistically significant positive effect on medication adherence. None of the studies showed a statistically significant negative effect. All interventions which had a statistically significant positive effect on medication adherence involved personal contacts between therapists and patients. All included eHealth interventions are at least as effective as control conditions and seems to be effective for patients with depression as well as with bipolar disorders. Personal contacts seem to improve the effectiveness of eHealth interventions. eHealth interventions are an effective way to improve medication adherence in patients with affective disorders. In rural or underserved regions, eHealth can supplement usual care interventions on medication adherence by expanding access. More analyses are needed in order to understand determinants for the effectiveness of eHealth interventions on medication adherence enhancement. Keywords: affective disorder, eHealth, medication adherence, medication nonadherence, compliance, noncompliance

الوصف: The Power of Local Action is an Oxfam learning compendium on local humanitarian leadership (LHL) that arose out of learning events and global meetings held in 2019 in Nairobi, Mexico City, Jakarta and Istanbul, and draws from the recommendations of partners and Oxfam staff as well as more recent research. The aim is to provide, for the first time, a comprehensive reference on positive LHL practices and ideas for change that are in line with Oxfam's commitments and values. There were over 50 contributors to this learning document, a combination of Oxfam staff and partners that graciously shared their ideas, suggestions and practices to help Oxfam learn, adapt and improve.
