مستخلص: This study examined the effects of group games on female elementary students' cooperation skills. Two classes of elementary female students were assigned as an experimental or a control group. The study used a quasi-experimental method for the evaluation and comparison of cooperation development and administered the Measurement of Competitive-Cooperative Attitudes (Martin & Larsen, 1976) to gather data. A T-test was done to examine the hypothesis. A pre-test was performed to measure cooperation skills development and see whether they are comparable. Then, the experimental group played the selected group games, while the control group continued the previous curriculum. A middle test was conducted after 6 weeks. There were no meaningful differences between the groups. As it was predicted that time would be a factor that affected the results, the program continued for another 6 weeks. Finally, a post-test was conducted, revealing that group games can increase cooperation skills (p< 0/05).

مستخلص: Introduction: Poor response to platelet and recombinant factor VII administration is a major problem in patients with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia (GT). The risk factors associated with poor response to treatment in these patients are unknown. Some genetic variations of cytokines may contribute to therapy resistance. Aims: We evaluated, for the first time, whether genetic polymorphisms on cytokine genes are related to poor treatment response in GT patients. Methods: We enrolled 30 patients with GT (15 resistant and 15 non‐resistant) and 100 healthy controls. Gene polymorphisms of IL‐10 and TNF‐α were analysed using TaqMan Realtime PCR, and IL‐1, IL‐1R1 and IL‐1RN were investigated with the RFLP method. In‐silico analyses were performed to predict the potential impact of these polymorphisms. Results: In the resistant group, all patients had a variant of the IL‐10 gene at the ‐1082 position (rs1800896), with a GG genotype that was significantly more frequent than the non‐resistant group. Analysis between healthy controls and GT patients revealed a probable correlation between rs3783550, rs3783553, rs3917356 and rs2234463 and GT. The In‐silico study indicated that TNF‐α rs1800629 and IL‐10 rs1800896 polymorphisms result in different allelic expressions which may contribute to poor response to therapy. Conclusions: These findings suggest that polymorphisms in the IL‐10 and IL‐1 receptor antagonist genes may play a role in poor therapy response in GT patients. In addition, some polymorphisms in IL‐1α, IL1‐β, IL‐1R1 and IL‐R antagonists might be involved in the GT progression. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: This study investigated the effects of group play on communication skills in upper primary students. A quasi-experimental method for evaluation and comparison of communication development was adopted, and two classes of fifth-grade female students were randomly selected. They were divided into two groups: a control group and an experimental group. The survey Willingness to Communicate (McCroskey & Richmond, 1987) was administered to gather data, and a t-test was conducted to examine the hypothesis. A pre-test was given to participants in the two classes to measure communication skills development. The experimental group played the pre-selected group games for six weeks (two sessions of 60 minutes per week), while the control group continued with the standard curriculum. After this time a middle-test was administrated on the students to eliminate time as a factor. This indicated that additional time was necessary, so the study continued for another six weeks. After the last phase of this study, a post-test was conducted, revealing that group play could be related to increasing social skills in the area of communication with peers (p< 0.05).

الوصف: This study investigated Iranian elementary language arts textbooks from a critical literacy perspective. A content analysis methodology was adopted to examine how and to what extent critical literacy is developed in Iranian elementary language arts textbooks. The content included words, pictures, and questions of all Iranian elementary language arts textbooks from grades one to six. In Iran, the same textbooks are taught at schools across the country. This study’s criteria were developed according to the criteria identified by Klenner and Sandretto (2011) and Belet and Dala (2010). Analysis of the data followed Ball and Smith’s (1992) content analysis phases. The analysis revealed that even though the Iranian textbooks meet the criteria, they do not seem to fully cover the essence of critical literacy. There might be several reasons for this, such as ignorance, unequal power relationships, and the profit of authorities.

الوصف: This study presents a case study of bilingual preschoolers' social skills development in dimensions of communication, cooperation, emotional management, and problematic behaviours. This study utilized non-participation observation and semi-structured interviews for collecting data. Five bilingual preschoolers and two early childhood educators participated in this study. The results indicate that the main reason for bilingual children's exclusion is their language limitations rather than their appearance or other factors that would contribute to them being considered an outsider. The main barrier in the social skills development of bilingual children seems to be negative feelings such as frustration and hesitation that this group of children experience in relationships with others and inhibit them from interacting with others. The role of early childhood educators, peers, and parents in this group of children's social skills development is important.

الوصف: This paper presents a systematic literature review of the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and maternal employment disruption in order to explore what mothers of these children do using a critical lens. Although a broad range of peer-reviewed scholarly publications exist on many topics related to ASD, specific family issues such as the potential employment challenges of the maternal employment of children with ASD, have been explored in less detail until recently. ASD has generated much discussion and research. We report the most recent data over the last decade.Through a comprehensive literature review, we identify a range of papers on the topic of ASD and parental employment disruption. This project, then, highlights relevant international Canadian and internationals research findings, including the United States, China, the United Kingdom (UK) and Sweden. The review and its critical commentary show how structures which act to exclude children with ASD cause parents to seek employment adjustments in order to manage their complex situations. Parents, especially mothers of children with ASD, have fewer employment opportunities. This situation has substantial economic impact on families. This trend extends beyond preschool child care as obtaining capable and reliable child care support is an ongoing issue that exists well into the school years—and beyond. Supportive, accommodating, and especially flexible employment situations make employment possible, at times, for mothers of children with ASD.

مستخلص: Background: The B-cell-specific Moloney murine leukemia virus integration site1 (BMI-1) is one of the famous members of the Polycomb ring finger group, which plays a crucial role in the gene transcription regulation through histone changes. Hence, it is believed to be necessary to further clarify the effects of the BMI-1 clinical. Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 70 acute myeloid leukemia (AML), 70 chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), and 20 healthy individuals, as the control group. We used real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction in order to assess the BMI-1 level expression and its effect on prognosis in AML patients in the Molecular Pathology Research Center. Results: The results of the present work indicated that the BMI-1 overexpression was significantly higher in the AML and CML patients compared with that in the healthy controls (P < 0.001). Furthermore, a significant relationship was observed between the BMI-1 overexpression and poor prognosis in the AML patients (Hazard ratio=1.749, P < 0.001, 95% confidence interval = 1.31-2.32). Additionally, BMI-1 high was found in chronic and blastic phase in the CML patients (P < 0.001). Conclusion: We concluded that investigation of BMI-1 gene expression pattern will be conducive to the prognosis and treatment of myeloid leukemia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

الوصف: This study presents a case study of preschool-age dual-language learners’ social skills development. The research focuses on several widely recognized dimensions of children’s social development: communication, cooperation, emotional management, and problematic behaviours. The case study utilized several methods for data collection, including non-participant observation and semi-structured interviews. Five dual-language preschool-age children participated in the qualitative data collection, and two early childhood educators participated in the qualitative data collection through interviews and classroom observations. The results indicate that the main reason for dual-language children’s exclusion is their language limitations rather than their appearance or other factors that would contribute to them being considered an outsider. Also, the main barrier in the social skills development of dual-language children seems to be negative feelings such as frustration and hesitation that this group of children experience in relationships with others, which appear to inhibit them from interacting with others. The role of early childhood educators, peers and parents in the social skills development of this group of children is significant.
