    الوصف: Proficiency in vocabulary is a crucial skill for engineering students as it facilitates comprehension of engineering manuals and other literature predominantly composed in English. The efficacy of the classical method in enhancing vocabulary proficiency is regarded as leading to the development of an android-based Quizlet application as a potential solution to address this issue. This study aims to examine students’ perceptions regarding the effectiveness of Quizlet as a self-study tool for enhancing their proficiency in Engineering English vocabulary. The research utilized a quantitative descriptive methodology. The study employed questionnaires administered through Google Forms as the primary instruments. These questionnaires were distributed to twenty-five students enrolled in Mechanical Engineering program at Banjarmasin State Polytechnic. The present study employed a descriptive approach to analyze the data, utilizing the Likert scale as a measurement tool. According to the study’s findings, it has been established that most students exhibit a favorable reaction toward using the Quizlet application. Approximately 48.7% of the respondents’ answers agreed with each posed question, while a mere 1.4% expressed a strong disagreement. The findings indicate that using the Quizlet application as a learning tool on the Android platform can potentially enhance vocabulary retention.

    مستخلص: Learning a foreign language for those who have their first and second language often puts learners in imperfection mastery such as irrelevant lexical choice, and source cultural bounds language utterances. Knowing the concepts merely cannot guarantee the process of avoiding mistakes or errors that learners have. There has been an amount of research on learner language which focuses on language corpus but little on highlighting the research specific language components grammatically contributing to language learners' competence. Therefore, to fill the void, this study aimed at scrutinizing and yielding information on the practical way of phenomena in Indonesians' interference by knowing the students' feature descriptions of language competence. In this research, a guided interview was used to sub-ethnic of Banjarese which covered several Banjar Kuala and Banjar Hulu preservice English teachers in getting the data of this study. The findings reveal language problems in lexical aspect, semantic confusion, incorrect use of word-formation pattern, prepositional misuse, and problems in language syntax and discourse. The implication of this study calls for recommendations to adopt techniques in mitigating suggested learner language in the area of subject-verb concord, tenses, and lexical problems in a process of language development.

    الوصف: The development of various post-pandemic technologies has significantly changed teaching and learning activities. Through a brief interview between the head of the English Language Teachers’ Association in Banjar Regency and the head of the community service team, data was obtained that identified the issues faced by of the English Language Teachers’ Association members: 1) Teachers still lack information about various Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies for English language teaching. 2) The teachers still lack information about free applications that can be used to support technology-based learning to increase student participation. Given the challenges faced by the partners, the goal of this community service was to provide secondary school teachers in South Kalimantan, especially in Banjar Regency, with insights into how AI plays a comprehensive role, as well as training in how to integrate various AI technologies to support the teaching and learning process. The implementation method offered for this activity included lectures, discussions, and collaborative learning with several stages, such as preparation, execution, and evaluation. The results of this training were as follows: 1) New experience for the teachers about AI-based support applications in the learning process. 2) How to integrate these applications into the classroom learning process. 3) Teachers successfully created their learning media using applications learned during the training. 4) Learning practices that integrated AI into the teaching process increased student motivation to learn English. The conclusion of this community service was that services could help the teacher in using technology, especially AI, to increase student participation in class.

    مستخلص: The aim of this study was to know the correlation between self-esteem to student's reading comprehension. This study employed quantitative approach in the form of correlation design to identify the correlation between self-esteem and students reading comprehension. The population of the present study was English department students of ULM academic year 2018/2019. Data collection involved 35 students who took part in the reading course. There are two kinds of the instrument used: test and questionnaire. The data in this study were analyzed by using Pearson product-moment. The result of the study reveals that there is a correlation between self-esteem and student's reading comprehension. The result showed that the r of the first calculation was 0.0457. It meant that H0 was rejected and self-esteem has a correlation to the reading comprehension with significance tailed 0.006 < 0.05.

Its use makes the teachers and students more accessible in the learning process and creates a pleasant atmosphere in the class, particularly during this covid 19 pandemic. Practically, even though technology positively impacts learning, not all teachers have sufficient technical skills to operate the learning application of online teaching. Therefore this study aims to analyze the english lecturers using technology for teaching online class. This study is using qualitative with narrative design research. Data collection of using technology in online classes involving difficulty and its solutions are narrated based on two English lecturer’s experience. The subjectof this study is two English lecturers in for exploring their experiences of using technology for teaching online class during this crucial situation of covid 19. All the data is analyzed thematically by organizing it based on the questions of interview. The findings present the strengths and the weaknesses of technology in online learning, and the way of overcoming the problem of using technology.

    الوصف: Real-life observation has shown that second language (L2) learners differ in their L2 learning process in which this individual difference is virtually related to the factors influencing second language acquisition. Many researchers have been interested in finding those factors, yet there is still a little study examining the impact of language ego as the affective factor. Thus, this paper aims to elaborate on how the language ego influences second language acquisition. By having a thorough understanding of language ego in L2 learning, it is expected that it can give some enlightenment to a better learning process for L2 learners.To provide an adequate explanation of language ego, this paper uses a literature review. This method is used to aggregate empirical findings related to a narrow research question which is the language ego as one of the affective factors influencing second language acquisition. Some previous studies that discuss a similar topic are collected, and the data is analyzed in accordance with the objective of this paper.As one of the affective factors, language ego is a psychological state of a learner in which it refers to the identity that a person develops in reference to the language. In this paper, it is hypothesized that the language ego influences second language acquisition in positive correlation when the focus is the permeability of the language ego. The permeability shows how the ego can be flexible and adaptable to the second language. The higher the learner’s language ego permeability is, the higher the learner’s chance of successful second language acquisition is.

    الوصف: Allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis are global problems that are frequently encountered in daily clinical practice. This disease has an impact on the quality of life of sufferers who can resulting in decreased productivity, interpersonal relationships, and social activities. Socialization is needed regarding allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis so that medical personnel can participate in early diagnosis and management of allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis. Educational activities are carried out through outreach activities using lecture methods, discussions, training, as well as pretest and posttest. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest, the pretest average was 56,55 (± 27.51) and the posttest average was 89.27 (±12.95). Based on the comparison of pretest and posttest results, we found a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). Medical personnel's knowledge of allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis needs to be increased so that they can participate in early diagnosis and management of allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis.

    الوصف: Kurangnya pemahaman mengenai penyusunan proposal dan laporan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) di masa pandemi Covid 19 ini membuat pelaksanaan PTK berbeda dengan kondisi sebelum Pandemi. Hal ini dikarenakan proses belajar mengajar biasanya dilakukan secara tatap muka langsung namun adanya situasi pandemi maka pembelajaran dilakukan secara daring. Kondisi ini membuat para guru masih bingung dalam hal pembuatan PTK yang pas di masa Pandemi. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan pendampingan tentang penulisan proposal PTK di Masa Pandemi Covid 19 untuk guru-guru Bahasa Inggris agar para guru dapat menghasilkan proposal PTK pada saat Pandemi Covid 19. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Banjarbaru dengan 25 peserta pada tanggal 31 Mei – 4 Juni 2021 selama 5 hari. Adapun hasil yang bisa didapatkan oleh para guru dari pelatihan ini adalah membantu para guru dalam menentukan komponen-komponen yang tepat dalam penelitian, membantu para guru untuk dapat merumuskan masalah yang sesuai dengan situasi dan kondisi di kelas, mensosialisasikan kepada guru beberapa tools untuk membantu dalam penulisan proposal PTK seperti: Mendeley, Turnit-In, Grammar Checker, dan Google Docs, meningkatkan kemampuan para guru untuk membuat referensi penelitian yang bagus dan terbaru serta bagaimana mensitasi referensi terbaru dalam penulisan proposal PTK, membuat para guru memahami pedoman dan format penulisan PTK yang benar sehingga para guru lebih termotivasi dalam menyusun proposal PTK. Pelatihan PTK pada masa pandemi membuat pengetahuan para guru tentang penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) bertambah sehingga para guru lebih berinovasi untuk membuat topik-topik yang menarik untuk penelitian mereka di masing-masing kelas.     الوصف: Writing is one of the skills in language learning. Writing is also the most difficult skill for language learners because when the students start writing, they must collect the idea from their brain and then type or write it into a good paragraph. Social media and daily life cannot be separated today. Social media has evolved into the most important online platform for connecting people. This research tries to analyses the contribution of social media in improving students' writing skills. This research used the qualitative method because it was to describe students' tips to enhance writing skills using social media. The participants of this research were 2 students from English Language Education Study Program Batch 2019. They were students D and T. They were chosen because they got the highest score in the "Intermediate Writing" course. The data collection of this research used interviews and documentation. The results of this research were that student D and student T were using social media for improving their writing skill. Student D agreed that Instagram and WhatsApp can enhance her writing skill because she posted and wrote about her daily activities through those kinds of social media. The student agreed that Youtube and online novels and reading websites also contributed a lot to improving his writing skill. It was also concluded that every student had their tips to get the advantages of social media in improving their writing skill.
