الوصف: SN 2021adxl is a slowly evolving, luminous, Type IIn supernova with asymmetric emission line profiles, similar to the well-studied SN 2010jl. We present extensive optical, near-ultraviolet, and near-infrared photometry and spectroscopy covering ~1.5 years post discovery. SN 2021adxl occurred in an unusual environment, atop a vigorously star-forming region that is offset from its host galaxy core. The appearance of Ly{\alpha}, O II, as well as the compact core, would classify the host of SN 2021adxl as a Blueberry galaxy, analogous to the higher redshift Green Pea galaxies. Using several abundance indicators, we find a metallicity of the explosion environment of only 10% solar, the lowest reported metallicity for a Type IIn SN environment. SN 2021adxl reaches a peak magnitude of r ~ -20.2 mag and since discovery, SN 2021adxl has faded by only ~4 magnitudes in the r band with a cumulative radiated energy of ~1.5e50 erg over 18 months. SN 2021adxl shows strong signs of interaction with a complex circumstellar medium, seen by the detection of X-rays, revealed by the detection of coronal emission lines, and through multi-component hydrogen and helium profiles. In order to further understand this interaction, we model the H{\alpha} profile using a Monte-Carlo electron scattering code. The blueshifted high-velocity component is consistent with emission from a radially thin, spherical shell resulting in the broad emission components due to electron scattering. Using the velocity evolution of this emitting shell, we find that the SN ejecta collide with circumstellar material of at least 5 Msun, assuming a steady-state mass-loss rate of 4-6e-3 Msun per year for the first ~200 days of evolution. Continuing the observations of SN 2021adxl may reveal signatures of dust formation or an infrared excess, similar to that seen for SN 2010jl.

الوصف: An operator that generates an approximate symmetry of long-range Rydberg molecules (LRRMs) formed by two alkali atoms, one in a Rydberg state and the other in the ground state, is identified. This is first done by evaluating the natural orbitals associated to a variational calculation of the binding wave function within the Born-Oppenheimer description of the molecule including $s-$ and $p-$ Fermi pseudopotential and the hyperfine structure energy terms. The resulting orbitals with highest occupation number are shown to be identical to those obtained by a perturbative model for high angular momentum -- trilobite and butterfly -- LRRMs. Whenever the slight dependence of the quantum defects of the Rydberg electron on its total momentum $\vec j = \vec \ell +\vec s_1$ can be neglected, the symmetry operator of the high angular momentum LRRMs orbitals is identified as the sum of the spin of the Rydberg electron $\vec s_1$, spin of the valence electron $\vec s_2$ and the spin of nucleus $\vec i$ of the ground state atom, $\vec {N} =\vec {s_1} + \vec {s_2} + \vec {i}$. The spin-orbitals that diagonize $\vec{N}$ define compact basis sets for the description of LRRMs beyond the aforementioned approximations. The matrix elements of the Hamitonian in these basis sets have simple expressions, so that the relevance of triplet and singlet contributions can be directly estimated. The expected consequences of this approximate spin-symmetry on the spectra of LRRMs are briefly described.

الوصف: An Integral Field Unit (IFU) based on image-slicers has been added to the GREGOR Infrared Spectrograph (GRIS). This upgrade to the instrument makes possible 2D spectropolarimetry in the near-infrared by simultaneously recording the full Stokes profiles of spectral lines (in a given spectral interval) at all the points in the field of view. It provides high-cadence spectropolarimetric observations at the instrument's high spatial resolution and high polarization sensitivity at the GREGOR solar telescope. The IFU is ideal for observing the polarized spectrum of fast-evolving solar features at high spatial and spectral resolutions. The high observing cadence opens the possibility of time-series observations. The analysis of observations to this level of accuracy is essential for understanding the complex dynamics and interactions of solar plasma and magnetic fields. The image slicer of the IFU has eight slices of width 100 micron, covering a total field of view of 6" x 3". It was designed and built within the framework of the European projects SOLARNET and GREST, as a prototype for future instruments of the European Solar Telescope (EST) and was integrated into GRIS. After two commissioning campaigns in 2017 and 2018, the IFU was finally installed at the end of September 2018 and offered to all observers who use the telescope.

الوصف: We consider electromagnetic fields having an angular momentum density in a locally non-rotating reference frame in Schwarzschild, Kerr, and Kerr-Newman spacetimes. The nature of such fields is assessed with two families of observers, the locally non-rotating ones and those of vanishing Poynting flux. The velocity fields of the vanishing-Poynting observers in the locally non-rotating reference frames are determined using the 3+1 decomposition formalism. From a methodological point of view, and considering a classification of the electromagnetic field based on its invariants, it is convenient to separate the consideration of the vanishing-Poynting observers into two cases corresponding to the pure and non-pure fields, additionally if there are regions where the field rotates with the speed of light (light surfaces) it becomes necessary to split these observers into two subfamilies. We present several examples of relevance in astrophysics and general relativity, such as pure rotating dipolar-like magnetic fields and the electromagnetic field of the Kerr-Newman solution. For the latter example, we see that vanishing-Poynting observers also measure a vanishing super-Poynting vector, confirming recent results in the literature. Finally, for all non-null electromagnetic fields, we present the 4-velocity fields of vanishing Poynting observers in an arbitrary spacetime.

الوصف: A ground state atom immersed in the wave function of the valence electron of a Rydberg atom can generate a long-range Rydberg molecule (LRRM). In this work, using the multipole expansion of the electrostatic interaction in prolate spheroidal coordinates, approximate and compact expressions of the electrostatic potential that determine the chemistry of trilobite and butterfly LRRM are explored. It is shown that even the spheroidal monopole term can be used to describe general features of the potential generated by a LRRM at short distances. It is also shown that even at long separations that allow a perturbative description of the intermolecular interaction between two LRRM, the convergence of the multipole spheroidal expansion is faster than that of its spherical analogue.

الوصف: The Euro-4 diesel-powered engines are the current industry standard in the Philippines as indicated in the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) Omnibus Guidelines Department Order 2017-011. Based on the National Emissions Inventory report of the Environmental Management Bureau in 2018, 74% of air pollutant concentrations were produced by mobile sources including jeepneys. The PUVMP is focused on enhancing environmental sustainability, air quality, and in providing a reliable and effective public transportation system. The potential advantages to air quality and health from the full implementation of the program especially the Euro 4 diesel-powered engine jeepneys in Trece Martires City are assessed in this paper. The study aims to estimate the impact of the possible enforcement of Euro 4 diesel-powered engine jeepneys on the reduction of air pollution in the research locale. Four pollutants were assessed particularly Carbon Monoxide (CO), Nitrogen Oxide (NO x ), Sulfur Oxide (SO x ) and Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5) using AERMOD Air Dispersion Modeling Software in five (5) different scenarios: (1) baseline engine jeepneys, (2) 25% implementation of Euro 4 diesel-powered engine jeepneys, (3) 50% implementation of Euro 4 diesel-powered engine jeepney, (4) 75% implementation of Euro 4 diesel-powered engine jeepneys and (5) full implementation of Euro 4 diesel-powered engine jeepneys. AirQ+ was utilized to evaluate the health risk of Euro 4 diesel-powered engine jeepneys to the drivers and commuters in the vicinity. Result shows that the Scenario 5 or the full implementation of Euro 4 diesel-powered engines relatively reduces CO by 84.30% (8.355 μg/cu.m to 1.31 μg/cu.m), NO x by 21.76% (10.6 μg/cu.m to 8.27 μg/cu.m), and PM2.5 by 83.36% (2.69 μg/cu.m to 0.447 μg/cu.m), by its maximum estimated concentrations. However, an increase by 14.14% of SO x emissions (0.091 μg/cu.m to 0.104 μg/cu.m) were seen on the simulation from Scenario 1 to Scenario ...

الوصف: In this study, biofilms based on Chayotextle (Sechium edule Sw) starch with extract and microcapsules of Jamaican calice (Hibiscus sabdariffa) extract were used as a coating on strawberries to prolong their shelf life. A coverage with chayote starch (CCS), a coverage with 1.5 mL of extract (CE) and a coverage with 2.5 g of microcapsules (CM) were obtained. The C-2.5 showed a lower weight loss in the strawberry with respect to the storage time (14 days), a similar behaviour of greater hardness was observed in the strawberry with the same coverage. The Brix levels and the acidity of the strawberries were better controlled in the strawberries with a cover than in the control strawberries (without a cover). These results indicate that biodegradable coatings added with extract and microencapsulation of the jamaica flower extract delay strawberry ripening and could be used as an alternative for food preservation.
