الوصف: The cap pushing response (CPR) is a free flying technique where honey bees are trained to fly to a target where they push a cap to reveal a hidden food source. In this paper, we report the results of three studies. First, we provide information on three techniques used to shape the CPR. Second, we provide preliminary data suggesting that honey bees can learn the CPR through observing a previously shaped bee. Finally, we provide data on the ability of a honey bee to recall the CPR response. In addition to the three studies, we also continue to advocate for the use of Observation Orientated Modeling (OOM) for comparative investigations.

الوصف: Teleost fishes account for 96% of all fish species and exhibit a spectacular variety of body forms. Teleost lineages range from deep bodied to elongate (e.g., eels, needlefish), laterally compressed (e.g., ribbonfish) to globular (e.g., pufferfish), and include uniquely shaped lineages such as seahorses, flatfishes, and ocean sunfishes. Adaptive body shape convergence within fishes has long been hypothesized but the nature of the relationships between fish form and ecological and environmental variables remain largely unknown at the macroevolutionary scale. To facilitate the investigation of the interacting factors influencing teleost body shape evolution we measured eight functionally relevant linear traits on adult-sized specimens along with specimen mass. Linear measurements of standard length, maximum body depth, maximum fish width, lower jaw length, mouth width, head depth, minimum caudal peduncle depth, and minimum caudal peduncle width were taken in millimeters with calipers, or tape measures for oversized specimens. We measured these traits on a total of 16,523 specimens (1-3 specimens per species) at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and took approximately 7000 person hours of data collection to complete. The data went through a three-step error-checking process to clean and validate the data and then species averages were calculated. We present the complete specimen data set, which encompasses approximately one-fifth of extant teleost species diversity, spanning ~90% of teleost families and ~96% of orders. The species and family names are compatible with the taxonomy used by FishBase and the order information with the phylogenetically informed taxonomy of Betancur-R and colleagues published in 2014. الوصف: Acute pancreatitis is one of the main gastrointestinal disorders that is characterized by an acute inflammatory process of the pancreatic tissue with variability in severity, usually with a mild and self-limiting presentation, and presenting a low mortality. Biliary etiology is the leading cause of acute pancreatitis worldwide, with greater involvement in the female gender. Within the diagnostic approach, acute abdominal pain and intense onset in the epigastrium radiating to the back is usually the most representative symptom that leads to suspicion of this entity, accompanied by elevation of pancreatic enzymes and the presence of typical image findings of inflammation of the pancreas. الوصف: In two 5-week randomized-controlled field studies, Canadian and US households were invited to make one meal per week from food that might otherwise be discarded, using flexible recipes. In the first study (Canada), tools to increase the salience of unused food (storage basket, clips to tag, or whiteboard) were also explored. A second study (US) examined a shorter program and the addition of follow-up reminders. Food waste was assessed with a self-reported food waste measure. Intervention groups reduced their food waste significantly versus baseline by 33% (Canada) and 46% (US) and versus control by 27% (Canada) and 33% (US). The salience tools (study 1) or duration (study 2) had no impact. Eight weeks after the intervention food saving continued although the intervention conditions no longer differed significantly from control. In the US, change in Perceived Behavioral Control partially mediated the impact of the intervention on food waste reduction.

الوصف: Esta investigación se desarrolla en los énfasis de Psicología Educativa e Informática Educativa de la Maestría en Educación de la Universidad Libre. Surgió de la necesidad de trascender las practicas tradicionalistas del preescolar, de desarrollar habilidades del pensamiento teniendo en cuenta los avances y las exigencias de una sociedad permeada por la ciencia y la tecnología y de la construcción de un tejido social, cultural, político y ético desde la base del proceso educativo. Se planteó como objetivo de la investigación Establecer la incidencia de la estrategia gamificada fundamentada en el enfoque Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad, para la observación y la descripción como habilidades del Pensamiento científico y tecnológico en Transición del Colegio Gerardo Molina Ramírez IED. Se sustentó desde la teoría de la modificabilidad estructural cognitiva de Feuerstein (1980); del desarrollo cognitivo de Piaget (1964) y la teoría sociocultural de Vygotsky (1931), quienes dan importancia a la interacción del individuo con el ambiente y los elementos mediadores para favorecer sus desarrollos cognitivos. De igual manera, el enfoque ciencia tecnología y sociedad (CTS) Arana (2005) quién promueve la reflexión en torno a la ciencia y la tecnología y su responsabilidad social para el desarrollo de la humanidad y la gamificación desde las concepciones de Kapp (2012) quien plantea la importancia de aplicar los elementos, mecánicas y dinámicas del juego al sector educativo. الوصف: The work was carried out in the Cauto Cristo Agricultural Comprehensive Basic Business Unit, with the objective of evaluating the bioproducts Pectimorf® and QuitoMax® in the cultivation of the Lical variety pepper. Three treatments were evaluated, Treatment 1: Control Treatment, Treatment 2: Application of Pectimorf® 10 days after germination and Treatment 3: Application of QuitoMax® 10 days after germination. In the second experiment with a randomized block design with three repetitions, the treatments were evaluated: Treatment 1: Control Treatment, Treatment 2: Application of Pectimorf® at the beginning of flowering and Treatment 3: Application of QuitoMax® at the beginning of flowering. The data were processed using the statistical package STATISTICA, through a simple Anova classification for the first experiment and double for the second, as well as a multiple comparison of means by Tukey for 5%. The results demonstrated the positive effect of both bioproducts on the quality of the postures and the morphological and productive variables, evaluated with a yield of 9.09 and 8.2 t/ha-1 with Pectimorf® and QuitoMax® respectively, and 5, 12 t/ha-1 in the Control treatment. ; El trabajo se desarrolló en la Unidad Empresarial Básica Integral Agropecuaria Cauto Cristo, con el objetivo de evaluar los bioproductos Pectimorf® y QuitoMax® en el cultivo del pimiento variedad Lical. الوصف: La línea sin reposo, catálogo de arte predinástico, es un trabajo literario del académico y crítico de arte colombiano Efrén Giraldo (2016) en conjunto con el artista visual Jorge Marín. El libro es un catálogo de artistas cuyo margen de vida y producción se ubica entre los años 1946 y 2213 en mundo distópico, ya que la tierra se muestra como un espacio improductivo, la naturaleza solo existe como creación plástica y son posibles los viajes interplanetarios. En este artículo, mediante la identificación de los recursos narrativos desplegados por el autor, se plantea como objetivo principal analizar cómo en un juego entre realidad y ficción que involucra imágenes y texto, se conforma un archivo de artistas del pasado, erigido a partir de pistas que deben ser descifradas por el lector. Estas pistas remiten al arte occidental moderno, regido por la idea del arte por el arte, y a otro posmoderno, en el que se requiere que el público complete y encuentre el sentido encarnado de las obras (Danto, 1994). Luego, observamos que, en el libro, usando también la estrategia dialógica de interacción entre palabras e imágenes, se configura un corpus de artistas ficticios, los cuales llevan al extremo las prácticas o las ideas estéticas de artistas reales. A través de estos recursos, retomando la idea de archivo de Derrida, aquí mostramos cómo esta obra de la literatura contemporánea erige un archivo del absurdo y el equívoco, desplegado desde la ironía y el humor para llevar a los lectores a repensar los límites del arte actual y la pequeña línea que separa lo estético y lo novedoso de lo monstruoso e inhumano. الوصف: La línea sin reposo, catálogo de arte predinástico, is a literary work by the Colombian academic Efrén Giraldo, with the visual artist Jorge Marín. The book is a catalog of artists whose range of life and production is done between the years 1946 and 2213 in a dystopian world, because the earth is shown as an unproductive space, nature only exists as a plastic creation and interplanetary travel is possible. In this article, through the identification of the narrative resources deployed by the author, it is analyzed how is created an archive. In a game between reality and fiction that involves images and text, is built an archive of artists of the past whit clues that must be deciphered by the reader. These clues refer to modern western art, ruled by the idea of art for art, and to another postmodern one, in which the audience is required to complete and find the “embodied meaning” of the works (Danto 1994). Then, in the book, also using the dialogic strategy between words and images, a corpus of fictitious artists is configured, which take the aesthetic practices or ideas of real artists to the extreme. Through these resources, taking up Derrida's idea of the archive, we show how this work constitutes an archive of absurdity and mistaken, created whit irony and humor to lead readers to rethink the limits of current art and the small line that separates the aesthetic and original from the monstrous and inhuman. الوصف: Microbial degradation of aromatic hydrocarbons is an emerging technology, and it is well recognized for its economic methods, efficiency, and safety; however, its exploration is still scarce and greater emphasis on cyanobacteria–bacterial mutualistic interactions is needed. We evaluated and characterized the phenanthrene biodegradation capacity of consortium dominated by Fischerella sp. under holoxenic conditions with aerobic heterotrophic bacteria and their molecular identification through 16S rRNA Illumina sequencing. Results indicated that our microbial consortium can degrade up to 92% of phenanthrene in five days. Bioinformatic analyses revealed that consortium was dominated by Fischerella sp., however different members of Nostocaceae and Weeksellaceae, as well as several other bacteria, such as Chryseobacterium, and Porphyrobacter, were found to be putatively involved in the biological degradation of phenanthrene. This work contributes to a better understanding of biodegradation of phenanthrene by cyanobacteria and identify the microbial diversity related.
